When Putin Retires...

State vs. Private Sectors

The influence and weight of state-related oligarchs have grown under Putin
The expansion of the state's control over the economy notwithstanding, the state sector has not displaced the private one as the core of the Russian economy
In the 2000s, renationalisation has been significant: YUKOS, Sibneft (now Gaspromneft), all helicopter building plants, etc.
But at the same time privatisation has also proceeded apace, including electricity generating companies, the completion of the privatisation of the iron and steel industry, coal mining companies, etc.
As a result, the overall weight of the state sector in the economy has not changed significantly compared to the late 1990s
